Daventry’s first and premier delicatessen opened its doors on the 14th November 2007, offering its patrons a vast range of gourmet food, fresh produce and quality kitchenware.
Sadlers Fine Foods is a specialist in English and Continental cheeses, smoked and cured meats, groceries, Shuckborough organic beef and lamb, Suffolk Pork and Sutton Hoe chickens. The deli also stocks unusual food gifts, kitchenware and cookery books.
The shop reflects the traditional ethos of a personal, quality shopping experience, delivered by staff that are trained to help you make the most out of your visit to Sadlers. We can make suggestions about the best cuts of meat, types of cheeses that complement each other and even help you carry your bags to the car if they are too heavy. We also offer a home delivery service for those that can’t make it to the shop, but please don’t miss out on the daily food tastings!
Sadlers’ café serves illy coffee, an Italian blend that is renowned for its quality and taste. At lunchtime, you have the opportunity to taste the gourmet meats and cheeses in the delicatessen in baguettes freshly baked on the premises, as well as sample the fresh vegetables in Sadlers’ daily homemade soup. The café also sells homemade cakes and pastries, meringues and flans.
Sadlers strive to collaborate with as many local suppliers as possible in order to nurture Northamptonshire’s growing independent food sector. Free range eggs are bought from Lucy Heart, based just outside Towcester, while fresh fruit and vegetables are supplied by Mark Sayward of Saywards at Whilton Locks.
Owned by Fiona Hopkinson, Sadlers Fine Foods is led by a lady who has been in catering all her live. Originally a restaurant chef in London and with experience in cooking for diplomats and other key government figures, Fiona now focuses on the development of home-cooked café food and the outside catering side of the business. Early 2008 will see the launch of Sadlers’ Corporate Entertaining brochure, along with the Gourmet Dinner Party menu.
Fiona is supported by her husband, British born Frank was brought up in Australia and New Zealand, where his love of food was borne and nurtured. He travelled the world after leaving education, where he gained his chefing and butchery skills. Frank focuses his skills on the development of the shop’s butchery, with the introduction of the Sadlers Organic and Non-Organic meat boxes and home-delivered fruit and vegetable boxes.
